It's been 7 years and a week since i last surfed with my Dad. This morning i caught a few waves in his honor at the office... Thanks Dad for teaching me to surf and love the ocean life!!! For All The Surfers That Love the Ocean In Loving Memory of Gary Koerner (1949-1998) by Loretta Martinez Williams They study the waves; they study the tides, All for the perfect curl, all for the perfect ride. They don wet suits in weather that is too cold, They withstand extreme degrees of heat; They are searchers of the soul. And then they bear offspring, whom they teach to ride, And it is pleasant to see, surfing side by side. But these young men do grow old, And some are taken before their toll. So it is befitting that their ashes return to the ocean, As all that remains is their soul. Their friends are given one last chance to say goodbye, While they paddle out, afloat in low tide. One soul surfer who has touched so many lives is now gone, But his love of the surf inspires others to carry on. While his soul surfers distribute his ashes to the ocean in a last hurl, Our thoughts go back to him riding the eternal curl. Hang'n in Cabo Hang'n in Cabo pt. 2 Dad at a special point in mainland Mex The first time he took me surfing!

Dingo,I wish i had the opportunity to surf with your dad or even meet him. That's a rad poem you wrote. Thanks for basically being with me on the trips to Zihuat or just surfing trips in general. All the tips you have given me, advice, journeys, what to do, what not to do. All your help has been passed down from your father to a little homey like me and I appreciate every bit of it. I wish I could've been out there today surfing some waves with you guys. Trust me, I always think about your situation and I think you are being so strong about the situation and basically are so stoked about the memories you've had with him. I was always really interested in listening to what you have to say about life and about surfing. I'm sure your knowledge came from your pops and I guess I can say that I met him through the good times with you and advice you gave me. You da man and your one of the best rippers to come out of the Lone Star State. And that's not an opinion, that's a fact. 1 luv, Ling
